After making the NRC in 2005, this event which was originally billed as a stage race was left off for 2006. By moving the 2006 event dates from September to mid-July and overlapping with the nearby Cascade Classic, Elite Nationals, and Superweek, the event organizers have conceded that this is no more than a regional event. The event debuted in 2004 as the California Outdoor Sports Championships and is held at the Infineon Raceway. The event organizers are the same people who bring you Sea Otter.
