2006 Calendar

Here is the short list of the more notable changes for the 2006 racing season:

• The inaugural Tour of California now dominates the early part of the racing season while the late-season Barclays Global Investors Grand Prix is cancelled.
• Two of the biggest stage races on the domestic calendar in recent years are in decline with Sea Otter becoming only a single circuit race and Redlands downsizing to only three stages.
• The USPRO Championship has moved to South Carolina in late August.
• US Elite Nationals have moved back a month to July 5-17 and will take place in Pennsylvania.
• Mexico gets two events listed on the UCI calendar: Vuelta Oaxaca and Vuelta Sonora.
• The Canadian schedule lists two new UCI events: the Capital Classic on August 24-26 and an unnamed time trial on June 20th. We'll wait for an updated UCI schedule for indications of whether these are really going to happen.

Notable false starts:

• The Jersey Shore Pro Cycling Grand Prix was announced in July of 2005 as a component of the Pro Cycling Tour. Later it seemed like it might be called the New York Pro Cycling Tour with dates in early August. It is conspicuously absent from either the UCI or NRC schedules.
• There was word of a fourth race during Wachovia Week to be held in Allentown, PA. However, there has been no further mention of the race.
• The Las Vegas International Cycling Championship was mentioned as a season-ending event with potential UCI status but no further mention of it has been forthcoming.
• Two false-starts from 2005, the United Texas Tour and Tour de Cliffs, are nowhere to be seen for 2006 although The Cliffs will play host to the USPRO championships.

Delisted Events

These events were listed on the 2005 calendar but have been taken off for 2006. The intent of this calendar website is to list only the top tier of national-caliber events rather than be an exhaustive racing calendar.
